British Hills

Christmas sends Yamamura Kokusai students to British Hills for the real experience… snow!
British Hills is a replica village built atop of a mountain in Fukushima. Owned by the Kanda Group, it is designed using British architecture and furniture with stone buildings and half-timbered lodgings, tables, chairs, wardrobes, chandeliers, even snooker tables brought from Britain to recreate a British village. The teachers are all from English speaking countries and use their expertise to create English classrooms.

Our students take part in lessons, such as designing the perfect school, calligraphy, snooker, cooking shortbread biscuits or scones and essential English. Meals are served in the main refectory, splendid with flags representing English counties, in the dining hall, designed along the style of a British public school lunch hall, and the final lunch is fish ‘n chips in a beautiful British pub!

It’s popularity has been increasing over the years. The students are thrilled by the scenery and do their best in all English lessons, as well as enjoying the shop, tours and a high tea with scones! The feel of the houses where the students spend their nights adds to the experience – complete with common rooms just like in Harry Potter! Let’s hope there are no midnight forays…
