The Biology Club participated in the “High School Bacteriology Practice” held at Nippon Pharmaceutical University (Saitama Campus) on Sunday, August 4th. (High School and University Collaboration Project: Dr. Inose in the Field of Life Science and pHarmacy Special Lecture and Practical Training 8/4-6)
On the first day (8/4), 18 high school students participated in the practical training. In the morning, they learned the principle of gram staining and observed the stained Escherichia coli (non-pathogenic) under a microscope. In the afternoon, we took bacteria from food samples brought by the participants. They then observed the morphology and characteristic sequence of the bacteria stained with grams.
In the biology department, especially first year students, are conducting bacterial experiments, so this practice was very helpful. Thank you to all the teachers and staff in charge during this very hot day.
