Biosummit in Tsuruoka – The final

From August 22nd to 24th, Yamamura Kokusai Biology Club students competed in the finals of the “12th High School Student Bio Summit in Tsuruoka”!
This is sponsored by Keio University Institute for Advanced Life Sciences, Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture, one of the most prestigious universities in Japan! The judges are PhD students, their questions are sharp, and the judging is strict.
There were two categories: results and planning. Preliminary rounds were held online and from over 250 students, 19 were invited to the finals, held in Tsuruoka for the first time in three years.
Yamamura Kokusai Biology Club students presented results, observations, and conclusions on their investigation into the effect of fructooligosaccharides on the intestinal bacteria of mice.
Their thorough investigation and competent presentation won them the “Special Jury Prize”.
In previous occasions, our Biology Club has won the “Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award”, “Excellence Award” and “Special Jury Award” five times.
